These are my Works In Progress. Each of the stories below are in various states of completion, ranging from, In Development to first draft. The Spork Amendment — Humor fiction / Satire / Contemporary absurdism / Light literary comedy / Internet-age / social satire / Short comic fiction
Graham Pike, a rigid advice columnist, and Owen Mercer, a blogger who satirizes Graham’s work, meet at a mall during a power outage. Both are searching for a gift for their respective nephews, who are best friends attending the same birthday party. Their dispute over a novelty ukulele escalates into a comical struggle for authority as they are trapped together with other shoppers culminating in the creation of a humorous "mall constitution," which paradoxically helps the group manage resources and maintain order during the blackout.
The Spork Amendment — A Study in Civic Absurdity — explores how human beings navigate social chaos by imposing structure, only to discover that empathy and shared vulnerability are more effective than rigid logic.
Book Type: Short Story — approx 15,000 words. Current State: Complete I Don't Want Easier — YA / MM Romance
As tutoring sessions move from the school library to the chaotic warmth of the Ross household, the "jock/nerd" labels dissolve. Jake finds a sense of belonging with Everett’s family that his own wealth could never buy, specifically through a profound bond with Everett's, autistic, younger brother, Wesly. But as their friendship shifts into a tentative, note-driven romance, Everett’s body image issues become the final wall. He can’t understand how a "Greek God" like Jake could ever truly want someone he views as "just sharp angles and jagged edges."
I Don't Want Easier is a love letter to queer kids who feel like they’re the wrong shape for their own lives. It’s about the moment you realize that the person the world was 'built for' is actually just waiting for you to build a world with him.
